Welcome to Chemical Pathology Department. Our department is headed by Chemical pathologists that combine practical laboratory with clinical skills. We employ biochemical laboratory techniques to determine the cause, pathogenesis, structural and functional changes that may be responsible for clinical manifestation of diseases, and prevent evolution of the disease. Our diagnosis process involves the application of laboratory methods to tissues and fluids obtained from the human body. We work hand in hand with other Doctors, Nurses, Medical lab Scientist, and morticians
We perform different clinical tests on blood and body fluids which aid in the diagnosis of kidney, liver, heart and bone diseases. We also engage in more complex test such as levels of hormones, cervical smears, needle biopsies, lump excise, and autopsies. Some of our diagnostic equipment include:

  • Cryostats
  • Automated tissue processor
  • Binocular Microscopes
  • Camera attached microscopes
  • Rotary Microtome
  • Histotrimers
  • Hydra-headed Microscope with attached 34″ Plasma monitor

  1. What is a chemical pathology?

  2. What is the role of a Chemical Pathologist?

Chemical pathologists manage the processes and the laboratory staff. They provide guidance on the selection of appropriate tests, and assess the significance of the results. They also provide quality assurance as part of their strategic leadership role.
