Health manpower development is a major activity of Abia State University Teaching Hospital (ABSUTH), Aba. In addition to the training of Abia State University’s medical Students, ABSUTH offers training in the following schools:

  • School of Nursing, ABSUTH, Aba
  • School of Midwifery, ABSUTH, Aba

Both schools are fully accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria
(N&MCN).
Training facilities are also available for the Post-Graduate Residency Training programmes of the National Post-Graduate Medical College and the West African Post-Graduate Medical College.
Plans are also underway for the commencement of other training schools, including a School of Medical Laboratory Technology (ABSUTH), as well as a School of Health Records, Administration and Biostatistics in the Teaching Hospital.
ABSUTH is also in the comity of five Teaching Hospitals nationwide being positioned for linkage into the Global University Scholarship (GUS) programme of the United Nations (UN).
